We have established the Yoga Girl Scholarship because when we say we want everyone to be a Yoga Girl, we truly mean it. We want to be part of building a world where everyone can achieve what they choose to pursue without exclusion due to systemic disadvantage. We recognize that we are far from full equity as is and are doing what we can to move us all closer toward that place.⁣⁣

Yoga Girl believes justice is an essential part of our work as yoga teachers. In order to fulfill our mission and build a more just world, we must take into account our society’s systematic inequalities including those based on race, class, gender, ability and geography. We are committed to actively working toward greater diversity and creating social justice in our workplace and in our physical and online communities. We are particularly interested in welcoming people from the QTBIPOC community and other under resourced groups to our community and teachings. We do this because we know that this work is powerful and access to these trainings can further empower those who haven’t previously had access. We are now offering scholarships for all our retreats, trainings and programs as well as free online subscriptions and class passes at our local studio. We have a quota in each program for QTBIPOC and are putting serious efforts into making everything we offer accessible and welcoming for EVERYONE. @island.yoga offers free yearly passes for the Indian community on the island (forever!) and free classes for workers in the mental health field in support of our work with @yogagirlfoundation (including social workers, teachers, psychologists and therapists working with abuse and trauma)?⁣⁣

This is a work in progress. I would love to ask for some genuine, effective feedback from anyone happy to give it. We have received hundreds of applications for our scholarships and will be releasing our YTT soon (we had to rework the website to fit the scholarship demand).
