David Wojnarowicz’s ‘Earth, Wind, Fire and Water’ from 1986 exhibits the artist’s unmistakable graphic style. Framed by a crumbling civilization, the present work portrays four large elemental avatars – Earth appears damaged beyond repair and Water is in mortal peril, while Wind and Fire revel in the wake of the destruction. Each of the elements is deeply personal, touching on the artist's anger with an unequal society.
