After dislocating my shoulder and not being able to skate all week before I came here to Japan, I struggled through my practices, every step on the ice feeling foreign and arduous. However, in the end, I emerged victorious--perhaps not over others, but over the immense difficulties I faced this week. Simply making it through my two programs was more than I could have thought to expect from myself during the flight here.
