Veterans Day was yesterday but today is the observed day so I thought I’d share a close up of my #journalpage. I wrote in length yesterday about how proud I am to stand next to my husband, who is a veteran and served in the US Navy & Army with several deployments under his belt, but I think with all that he has done, sharing a bit more is not redundant nor even skims the tip of the iceberg. The innocence of a child’s laughter, the softness of my sensitive heart, the freedom to be whoever you want without living in fear is so paramount to him and also was to my dad, who was a Colonel in the US Army. Both have all the bragging rights in the world but I’ve never once heard either of them speak with any hint of self-glorification. Their humble quiet hearts speak volumes to me. There are so many veterans who have sacrificed more than we know and receive such little thought or gratitude. Some are disabled, homeless, have lost friends and family, suffer from PTSD and more. It always amazes me how a simple thank you touches their hearts when they should receive so much more. There are no words to describe the pride I have in being my father’s daughter and my husband’s wife. Two remarkable heroes, two good men, two wonderful souls. I miss my dad terribly but I’m thankful for the days that I get to spend with the one the baton got passed to. My dad always told me that the one who is for me will be even a greater man than him, which I never thought possible until Floyd. .
