An incredibly photogenic Town on the Atsumi Peninsula in Aichi Prefecture, is located 300 km West of Tokyo just before Nagoya on the Shinkansen (Closest Station: Toyohashi). The town is surrounded by farmlands, ocean and small mountains. The peaceful town of Tahara not only offers locally grown organic vegetables but freshly caught fish, oysters and sea urchins within minutes driving distance from the coast. Local city Toyohashi is also close to Toyota city where Lexus and Toyota cars are made, local economy is made up of car manufacturing and various agricultural activities such as cabbage, potatoes, tangerines, persimmons, pig/beef farms and many more. Tahara City is also ranked #1 in the gross total agricultural per year, valued at 8,530,000,000 Yen per year (Japan Agricultural News Consensus 2016).
Tahra is also globally known for having an international surfing scene, hosting the 2018 ISA World Surfing Games, as the winds and tides play a favourable condition for the surfers.
