Photo by @taylorglenn // High above Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park, California. Seeing this landscape from the air is hard to describe. The patterns and colors of the valley floor are incredible when looking down on them from the window of an airplane. Badwater Basin is an endorheic basin meaning that when water falls (only occasionally) that it only drains though evaporation as there are no outlet streams. When Death Valley happens to get precipitation the water flows through this basin and creates incredible patterns through the salt flats. Another amazing fact about this area is that at it lowest point it is approximately 282 feet below sea level.
