It’s #worldkindnessday.

I know how discouraging it feels to see hate and cruelty multiply around us. But we can combat it and refuse to let it into our hearts.

Kindness is a core value for me. It always has been.
.
Maybe because of my personal circumstances growing up. My sister (here with hubs) is *severely* autistic and I often volunteered with her school and her classmates. Watching the outside world interact with her, it was obvious that she not only needed champions, but also people to share simple kindnesses with her.

?People who were willing to say hello at a store instead of stare at us, frightened.
.
?‍♀️People who didn’t mind sitting and talking about Ms. Piggy and Kermit for a few minutes
.
?People willing to hold open a door. Full stop.
.
Acts of kindness are so easy, and make the world better for everyone in our orbit.

It’s the same with travel. What you do when you travel makes an impact.

There are so many ways you can extend kindness when you travel:

?‍❤️‍?Connect with locals and take a moment to ask questions about their daily lives or culture
.
?Spend your money at businesses that make a direct impact on the community
.
?Leave the spaces you move through cleaner than you found them
.
?Consider a random act of kindness: pay for someone in line behind you, buy a bouquet of flowers and hand them out, compliment someone, leave an extra tip.

?Kindness to animals that you meet along the way, whether that’s feeding a stray or ensuring that your participation in activities don’t harm them. ?

Sometimes the smallest gestures are enough to brighten someone else’s day and create a ripple effect of kindness.
