Comforting Hakka dishes amongst which many I’ve never ever heard of when I was growing up with my Hakka grandparents. 福菜鹹猪肉拌飯 Picked this rice dish over the signature noodle items as we were all rice lovers. very fragrant and not overly salty. Can even taste a bit of porky grease coating on the grains ? 金沙翠苦瓜 A safe cold dish with salted egg dressing. Surprisingly light and not too wet 客家擂皮蛋 One of the most interesting dishes that is served cold and to be mashed up with peanuts, vinegar, some sauce and spring onion. May sound odd but this was so flavourful and delicious. My fav ❤️ U won’t be screaming about any fishy taste. 客家酸酸鱼 The photo doesn’t do the taste justice but this is a must try if you love fish ???A whole level different from the typical Sichuan spicy fish stew kind (no offense to Sichuan food lover haha) but the soup was appetizing, clear but yet so vibrant in flavors, with generous servings of fish swimming in the pot. There was some local tw greens used here. We drank up the entire big pot 金沙南瓜豆腐 Another family dish that was saved from those usual zichar 重口味 dressing. Those brinjal lookalikes are the deep-fried pumpkins that gave a subtle sweet balance to the savoury dish overall, it’s a very cozy family friendly restaurant that need several revisits to try all the other dishes (too many). Good thing was the speedy service and long operating hours. Came without booking but thankfully still managed to get a table.
