As a visual artist, I've fashioned my approach in many ways after punk bands such as The Clash. After getting into punk I learned about Detroit proto-punk bands like the Stooges and the MC5. This Kick Out The Jams LP references a couple of MC5(Motor City 5) album titles, a band who were outspoken politically. The mixture of emotion, honesty, raw visceral energy, and politics embodied by music has always given me creative inspiration and purpose. Hopefully people can get a kick out of my work and ponder some issues at the same time. - Shepard
