Raise your hand if you've seen one of these at #Thanksgiving. ?‍♀️?‍♂️ Anne L. Bernat received this CorningWare dish, with its signature blue cornflower design, as part of a set for a wedding present in 1967. She used them up until donating this piece to our @国立アメリカ歴史博物館 in 2011.
The CorningWare material was originally designed for military applications, but its ability to withstand sudden changes in temperature made it ideal for the kitchen.
In the 1990s, the company transitioned to ceramic stoneware to accommodate the growing demand for a wider variety of colors and designs, but the original glass-ceramic cookware was reintroduced in 2009 due to popular demand.
