The Passing of the Gift is unique to the Heifer program. Each farming family who receives a farm animal from Heifer will pass on its first female offspring to another family in need. The livestock handoff is still integral to the Heifer model, but the idea has blossomed to encompass all manner of passing good fortune forward.
