We are pleased to announce our first legislative initiative for 2019 - The Animal Hope in Legislation sponsored California State Fur Ban Assembly Bill 44. This landmark measure would prohibit the sale and manufacture of new fur throughout the State of California, strengthening the message sent by the LA City Fur Ban that fur is inhumane and unnecessary.

The bill is authored by Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale), who was quick to take a stand against cruelty. Assemblymember Friedman has a strong record of support for progressive environmental and animal welfare measures. We would like to thank her for her strong leadership and commitment to this act.

The California State Fur Ban is Animal Hope in Legislation’s third legistive measure, and the first of 2019. It is also sponsored by the Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation and the Humane Society.

Animal Hope and Wellness has gone undercover into fur farms globally, documenting the suffering animals used for fur are subject to. Born into cages, electrocuted, some still alive as they are skinned. These products of suffering have no place in California, one of the most progressive and compassionate states in the country.
