Beginning Monday night, former President George Bush lay in state in the Capitol Rotunda. His coffin was draped in an American flag, and placed on the catafalque built for President Abraham Lincoln. He was a president of a different time and a different era.” ⁣ ⁣ Pamela Timus: “There’s not a perfect life or a perfect country. All decisions he made may not have been favored by all Americans, but it was in the best interest of the country.”⁣ ⁣ Heidi Atkinson: “He gave me my life back as a veteran.” She served in the Navy and Bush was her last commander in chief. She was forced to retire after being severely injured in a car accident. And because Bush signed the Americans With Disabilities Act, she said she was able to “walk into the Capitol and stand before a great man.” ⁣
