Video by @Joel Sartore | In some countries such as Poland, Finland, and Denmark, it is tradition to give “Christmas presents” in the form of food to native species like this western European hedgehog. In Poland, myth has it that sharing a traditional sweet biscuit with animals will give them the ability to speak at midnight. In Denmark people will take a stroll through the woods to feed the local wildlife, and in Finland it is tradition to hang food on trees for birds and other animals to eat. This video was taken thanks to the support of @greenteenteam at Centro Fauna Selvatica “Il Pettirosso”.
