Each year, we put out a list of 52 Places to Go around the world. For the first time, in 2018, we sent one intrepid journalist, @alphajada, to every one of them. “Like the thousands of others who answered that fateful job listing — travel the world for The New York Times! — I had a vision of winning a journalism lottery, of getting to leave behind my routine to swim in waterfalls in #Australia, paraglide off mountaintops in #Switzerland and eat at Michelin-starred restaurants in #France. And I got to do all of those things, for which I am incredibly grateful,” Jada said. “I’ve also had to face reality: that constant travel — alone — on an illogical route no sane human would plan, might take a toll on my physical and mental well-being.” To end her journey, Jada shared lessons she learned after a year of nonstop travel. The first lesson? A year is short. @kermac took this photo of Jada in Northern Peru, the seventh stop on her 52 Places expedition. Visit the link in our profile to read more from Jada’s reflection.
