Over the years sharks continue to be one of my most popular Instagram photo subjects and yesterday I asked how YOU felt about these iconic marine predators. Almost 500 of you responded and I was happy to see that only a small minority still considered sharks to be mindless people eating machines. Outside of the community of marine scientists, shark obsessed divers and underwater photographers (three very abundant species on Instagram ) the prevailing sentiments turned out to be fascination and fear, often both in equal measures and frequently at the same time. Being both intrigued and slightly terrified is actually a great place to start the journey to understanding the true nature of sharks better. Thank you for sharing your insights, they will inform and guide me when making future shark related posts.
