This is our local #LAUSD public school #vannesselementary These are some of the wonderful teachers kids and parents that go here. I’m so grateful to them and @utlanow for standing strong again today rain or shine. Right now California, the richest state in the union, the 5th largest economy in the world ranks 43rd in public education. Did you know that we spend over 80,000 dollars per year per prisoner and less than 16,000 a year per pupil? Did you know our Charter schools receive the same public funding yet share none of the same responsibility to adhere to regulations fiscal or otherwise? Do you think 38 students to 1 teacher sounds like a great learning environment? Do you think kids struggling with poverty and difficulties at home should have access to mental and emotional support? How about nurses for when your child is sick or gets hurt? Then please #standwithteachers help us get our schools the funding and staffing they truly deserve. Our future literally depends on it.
