Despite being crammed alongside 27,000 others per square mile, New Yorkers have a surprisingly hard time meeting people living less than 10 feet from their doormats. Benjamin Norman knows this well because he is one of them. “You’re pretty much moving every year or 2,” said Benjamin, a photographer who has moved within the city 8 times in the past 13 years. “It makes it hard to develop new relationships with your neighbors or anything like that.” After he injured his back and spent a month cooped up in his apartment in the #Bushwick, #Brooklyn, Benjamin resolved to connect with his neighbors. Somehow, bringing a camera to capture the community made his mission more convincing, at least to some people. Most people were happy to be photographed, he said. @benjaminnorman took this photo of his neighbor Evelyn taking her granddaughter Kaylee on a scooter ride.
