Government workers, contractors and others affected by the partial shutdown show their displeasure during a #protest in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 23. Holding paper plates bearing slogans like "General Strike 2019" and "Jobs Not Walls," they filled the Hart Senate Office Building’s main atrium. News headlines throughout focused on a new poll showing a majority of #Americans blame President @ドナルド・トランプ for the record-long shutdown and the battle over where his State of the Union address, if it happens, will be delivered. "I look forward to seeing you on the evening of January 29 in the chamber of the House of Representatives,” Trump wrote in a letter to @speakerpelosi. “It would be very sad for our our country if the State of the Union was not delivered on time, on schedule, and very importantly, on location!” Pelosi responded less than three hours later, telling #Trump she would not authorize the speech in the House chamber, even though she had unofficially invited him earlier in the month, until the government is reopened.
