Did you know a girls income increases up to 20% for every year she goes to school? 130 million girls worldwide are NOT in school. The access to education is everything, and something many of us take for granted. Most importantly, education is the key path out of poverty for so many people all over the globe. In honor of today as the first International Education Day, here’s some pictures from my recent camp in rural Ghana, where we focused on empowering girls, so many of whom drop out of secondary school. It’s imperative that these, and all girls understand their right to go to school and make decisions about their own life. While I am by no means a teacher, I do all that I can with my foundation to make sure girls can stay in school as long as possible. Through the @tonigarrnfoundation, we support schools and education-based projects in many parts of Africa, with whatever is needed to sustainably enable them to be educated... including projects around getting to school safely, being able to study after class, having clean facilities or even simply affording school fees.
