Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) // Glaciologists follow these narrow passages, meandering deeper into the ice to try and get a better understanding at the rate of melt and what influences the speed the glacier moves. Every time I have visited the Gorner glacier in Switzerland, I am immediately struck by a shrunken volume of ice and a drop from the level the glacier was last time round. It is depressing to think that one day Europe will be without these amazing glaciers.
