The world has lost another genius, a maverick of fashion.
Karl was unique, generous, kind, beyond intelligent, witty and had a memory that would make you feel special. He encouraged playfulness and intellect, was a seeker and mentor to many.
The pictures post here are only a few, shot by Karl himself as photographer and some from my time walking in his designed pieces (SWIPE LEFT). The memories of working together are countless. My most fond was when I had an extended sleepover at his Paris home, the room where Linda, Naomi and Christy once slept. It was a “pinch me” moment to say the least. The best part was Karl and I sitting in the kitchen, eating roasted chicken in our pajamas and wearing a green face mask, leaving wide circles around the eyes for our glasses.
My last memory was of our time together, just this fall, here in NY. He says “Ms. Murphy, you are ageless...” and I said “Karl, you taught me well, to stay hungry and stay curious, that is what keeps you young”. I ? you forever Karl, thank you for being you...forever young.
