The looks were worn by Adesuwa and Kalib on the runway with so much beauty and grace. When I saw those looks go down our runway, I was in tears. It meant so much to me to showcase and highlight the incredible work of these talented artisans- from a marginalised community in Nepal- globally via our runway in New York.
It filled my heart and soul with so much pride that I was able to be a tiny part of this process where these women are empowered because of their talent and hard work.
In this moment, I realised it all made sense, why I do what I do. The purpose behind my platform.
These past years (almost 10) have been filled with highs and lows of epic proportions, but for all that I am extremely grateful.
As a self financed, independent company, my team and I have relentlessly worked very hard to build a brand that celebrates luxury, beauty, glamour and most importantly SOUL.
Through our foundation Shikshya Foundation Nepal (@sfnepal) we have been able to impact more than 20,000 people in the past 7 years. The foundation, run (with zero overhead) in Nepal by our incredible board members, all women, is also one of my reasons and motivations to continue my work here in New York. My foundation has not only been my motivation but also my salvation, my life line and something for which I am incredibly proud and grateful.
So on top of that to be able to work with these women from the Dhimali community through ACP to promote their heritage, history and to be able to give back.... Its been a blessing.
Its been a gift.
This gift brings clarity in my life for which I am eternally grateful. XPG
