If you are self-driving in Kruger National Park, be alert to the hornbills hunting insects along the edge of the road. The area where grass meets asphalt is prime insect-foraging territory for the hornbill—which makes them easy to photograph from a car window. Sadly, during my week in Kruger, I saw several hornbills that lost battles with car bumpers.
