Gap is splitting into two independent publicly traded companies. One will just be its Old Navy brand, and the second company will include Gap's other brands like Banana Republic and Athleta.⁣

By 2020, the second company is expected to bring in roughly $9 billion in sales. Gap also announced its plans to shut 230 of the namesake brand's locations over the next two years, as it works to restructure its business.⁣

⁣
Old Navy, however, has been the strongest brand within the company and brings in about $8 billion in annual sales by itself.⁣
