A caribou gracefully plods through the snow on Tetlin National #WildlifeRefuge in #Alaska. #Caribou are talented snow walkers and have broad flat hooves and “toes” that spread out just like snowshoes. #Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge offers a varied and stunning place for these animals to live, with rugged snowcapped peaks and glacially fed rivers to tundra, forest and wetlands. It’s also a part of the world’s largest contiguous conservation unit, sharing a border with Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve and Kluane National Park in Canada.
