The predominantly Tamil port city of Trincomalee has a rich Hindu history, but it was severely affected during the 30 year civil war. Today, it's becoming more popular with visitors, particularly the northern beachside villages of Uppuveli, Salli and Nilaveli. The sunrises here were some of the best we've ever witnessed.
