A marching band. Moving art. An exhibition. And a play. That’s how the Shed (1st photo, left), New York’s new arts center in Hudson Yards, celebrated its opening weekend. Our critics were there to weigh in on the boisterous launch. The space, which opened on Friday, offered “Soundtrack of America” (2nd and 4th photos), a concert tracing the history of African-American music, by Steve McQueen; “Reich Richter Pärt” (3rd photo), a live performance and exhibition by the painter @gerhard.richter and the composers Arvo Pärt and Steve Reich; work by the artist Trisha Donnelly; and the play “Norma Jeane Baker of Troy,” starring @benwhishaw and @reneeflemingmusic. @vnina shot the 1st, 2nd and 4th photos. @vincenttullo shot the 3rd.
