“Notre Dame is being serenaded.” Crowds of people sang as they walked the streets of Paris overnight, paying tribute to the famous cathedral that was devastated in a massive blaze. A woman captured this video from her hotel room, just before 2am. “The singing brought me out of bed. I opened the window and immediately my eyes welled up.” The fire at the 850-year-old church was extinguished after nine hours, but firefighters were unable to save the iconic spire, which toppled after being engulfed in flames. The majority of the 13th century oak roof was also destroyed. No one was killed in the fire.
