A respected leader who has attended over 20 years of climate negotiations, Yamin allowed officers to arrest her while peacefully explaining her actions: "The legal process is pretty broken right now and we're having to break the law rather than make the law because of the inaction of 30 years now of these companies." She was taking part in Extinction Rebellion week calling on governments, media, institutions, corporations and individuals to take bold action to address the #ClimateEmergency and #EcologicalCollapse. While the world reacted to the devastating fire in Notre Dame, there was not a single mention of the devastating fires also burning across the Amazon. Climate change is not in some distant future.
