Photo by @BabakTafreshi, The World at Night project | A night begins at 5000 meters (16,000 ft) high ALMA observatory, on Chilean Andes. Stars of Orion and Taurus stand above this array of 66 movable large radio dishes that can work together as a giant telescope that expands in size to zoom in to an object or clusters in to reveal fainter objects. Using an even much larger radio telescope array, in size of our planet, On April 10 astronomers revealed the first-ever image of a black hole, a breakthrough in science. They synched ALMA with several other telescopes across the globe to reveal the black hole in the heart of a massive galaxy some 50 million light years away.
