Another successful launch from the East Coast! 🚀🦀 Congratulations to our friends @nasawallops
NASA’s commercial partner Northrop Grumman launched its Antares rocket carrying cargo to the International Space Station on Wednesday, April 17. Among the cargo is a robotic "sniffer" tool that we built in collaboration with NASA's Johnson Space Center.
This "nosey" robot can detect where there are ammonia leaks outside the International Space Station. Ammonia is needed to maintain habitable temperatures on station, and with the help of this technology, astronauts can avoid long spacewalks in search of leaks. This ability could also be helpful for long-term human habitation on the lunar Gateway, a lunar habitat, and perhaps one day a crewed voyage to Mars. ✨
