🌸Cherry blossom season continues in northern Japan with beautiful blossoms surrounding Matsumae castle in southern Hokkaido.🏯 Brought in around the 17th century by the Matsumae clan to beautify the town, more than 100 varieties have been cultivated locally. There are now over 250 varieties and 8,000 trees.🍒Matsumae is also home to one of Hokkaido’s largest cherry trees which is said to have roots in the sacred trees of Mt. Yoshino. When its blooms first appear they're white, gradually changing color.🌸❤️
