Teasing the cat: a time-honored tradition. 🐈 #Caturday⠀
⠀
This 1888 print, "Teasing the Cat," comes from a series by the woodblock print artist Tsukioka Yoshitoshi entitled Thirty-two Aspects of Women, in which each print shows a different personality type. This image depicts a young maiden (shojo) of the the Kansei period (1789-1801) who, according to the title, has an "annoying" disposition (urusa-sō), perhaps because she’s trying too hard to play with the cat—though the her feline friend doesn’t seem to mind.
