So I use books a lot in different ways, and books and bookstores inspire me in many ways. I was incredibly honored to work with Penguin Books UK in 2008 on two of my favorite books, George Orwell's timeless satire of a revolution that went wrong “Animal Farm” and the chilling portrait of a totalitarian regime “Nineteen Eighty-Four.”⁣ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣ As easy as it is to purchase books online, it can make independent bookstores go out of business - which is disappointing because I think it's vital to experience visiting a store and checking out their selections of books in person. I live in Los Feliz, and there are two amazing bookstores in the neighborhood - Wacko on Hollywood Boulevard @soapplantwacko which has art books and books on bizarre collectibles and novelties, as well as @skylightbooks on Vermont which has art and design books, plus a lot of other books related to activism and progressive culture. I also want to highlight @storiesbooksandcafe in Echo Park, which is up the street from my studio @studionumberone and our gallery, @subliminalprojects.
