Have you ever seen the mesmerizing movements of feather stars? These ocean critters are the cousins of sea stars and sea urchins. Feather stars can be found across the world’s oceans in a variety of marine habitats: shallow waters to the deep sea, Atlantic to the Pacific. Their feather-like arms can grow as much as 1 foot long and can be regrown if lost. In addition to using their arms for swimming, they also use them to trap plankton or detritus that the current brings their way.
