This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Modernisation Seminar. Held in 1969, it was a crucial turning point in NTUC’s history, as it set the labour movement on the path of tripartism and constructive collaboration between unions, employers, and the Government. Several former union leaders, including participants who had attended the seminar 50 years ago, were invited as special guests today, as we mark this milestone in Singapore’s Labour Movement. Today, we must again act boldly to champion transformation efforts that benefit workers through better wages, better work prospects, and better welfare.
