As we waited in the tunnel of UCLA’s packed tennis stadium, the loudspeakers blared “Bittersweet Symphony” while my knees knocked with nerves. In the opening game, Andre snapped my serve with 4 frozen rope returns. Fortunately I settled down and shook hands with the scoreboard reading 3-6, 4-6. This is definitely the happiest and most relieved I’ve ever been in defeat. My Dad did the post match interview and revealed how much Mike and I worshipped him. We’re now lucky to share a friendship with Andre. He mentored us, helped us launch our foundation, and has been an inspiration for us to follow this crazy tennis dream.
