You’ve probably seen designer @duranlantinkyo’s now instafamous shoes online- DIY mash-ups of designer classics sewn together.
Not surprising then that the designer (who was recently shortlisted for this years LVMH prize) puts a heavy emphasis on sustainability when it comes to his designs. “Since the beginning of my academic years, repurposing clothing has always been my way of working. Later I started reflecting on reinvention what I was doing (recycling). During my masters I got really fed up with items ending up in sale so fast. I started thinking and questioning the value of luxury products with in the fashion world. At that point I decided to make digital mashups from pieces that ended up in sale.
