I learned today that a family member of mine was in the classroom during the shooting in Highlands Ranch, where Kendrick Castillo was killed three days before he was to graduate. She was unharmed physically, thanks in big part to Kendrick’s bravery.

Please don’t let yourself be desensitized to this. Our kids deserve better.

Columbine, Sandy Hook... These shootings are all horrific tragedies. The biggest tragedy of all, though, has been the lack of action in the wake.
