Photo by Nora Lorek @noralorek | Three years ago the area in northwestern Uganda containing the Bidibidi settlement was a forest. Now it’s a makeshift home for a quarter million refugees from South Sudan. Peter Wani, 17, built his own small store with money he made doing construction work. He sells items like sugar, snacks, soda, and beer. A group of his friends can often be found sitting outside his shop playing a game called Ludo. The civil war in South Sudan has displaced two million people. Today Bidibidi, the second largest refugee camp in the world, is slowly but surely transforming into a permanent city.
