We heard that corporate veterinary medicine giants like VCA pay a base salary contingent on bringing in a certain amount of money each year. Is it true that after their vets bring in a certain amount of money, they get a percentage of the additional money they bring in? Maybe many of their veterinarians don’t want to give up declawing and this is why VCA U.S. won’t stop declawing. We know that VCA likes their vets and doesn’t want to tell them how to practice veterinary medicine, but declawing is a mutilating, non-therapeutic amputation procedure that has no benefit to the cat. We are trying to figure out why VCA U.S didn’t stop declawing like their colleagues at @vca_canada did a year ago. If any of you know this answer or can find out for us, that would be great.
