I was hesitant to post this because I didn’t want anyone feeling like I was playing a blame game here but I believe the potential good that can arise from this type of post outweighs the potential negative feedback. We can’t deny the influence of social media and those in the public eye and lately I have seen an influx of plastic and cosmetic surgery amongst “influencers.” I want to state for the record that there is absolutely nothing wrong with choosing to undergo any of these procedures, I believe it is the individuals choice. It does however become tricky when people endorse procedures in the same way they would endorse a handbag. ͈ I’ve always been into health and fitness and I’ve always had a smaller bust. When I stumbled into the world of social media and suddenly became regarded as a person of influence I felt a duty to those who viewed, interacted or followed my content to instil the same confidence that I was so lucky to have built during such a critical stage of development. My biggest concern is for women who are feeling the same insecurity that I once felt, being exposed to content which strongly supports altering your natural appearance. Impressionable young women and men are seeing influencers collaborating with surgeons, and yet preaching self love and self acceptance. ͈ I just want to put out a little reminder to everyone who is seeing this sort of content, insecurities are not uncommon but it also does not mean there is anything wrong with you.
