ニッキー・リードさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ニッキー・リードInstagram)「Many many years ago I found myself on a very special trip through the Okavango Delta in Botswana with two of my closest friends. This was before the smartphone, before everything was documented at rapid pace, when images were inevitably taken with a different level of conscious intention by all of us. This is one of my favorites. I remember going to Samy’s on Wilshire Blvd., and renting my first camera for the trip of a lifetime. It was major. I carried it and nurtured it like it was my child. In our tents my camera stayed at the foot of my bed. Every image was sacred. Seeing this photo still brings me back to this moment. How excited I was and how lucky I felt because I happened to have my camera in my hand in that moment. So many others live only in my memory because I simply couldn’t whip out my beast of a camera fast enough to capture a short lived visit from a bird, or a rainbow, or a lion. Shortly after we returned, my computer was stolen and this is one of the few remaining images from that trip that I will hold close to my heart forever. I suppose had I had a smart phone I would’ve come home with thousands of images, safe from being lost with redundant backups on every device. I get why phones can be incredible. But there is also something so cool about only having 22 images from this very special trip. I look at each one longer, and I’m even more grateful for the few moments I did get to take home with me.」5月24日 2時37分 - nikkireed
