A 9 year relationship with Kahn enables me to have a safe friendship. Relationships are forever evolving and either you grow together or apart. Fortunately we have grown together. Leopards are amazing animals and often misunderstood. I’m often part of nostalgic conversations where people retell stories about their experiences with leopards and there behaviour, having had no experience with them other than a fleeting encounter in the bush. I bite my tongue. I’ve found, in over 2 decades of working with large carnivores, that a lot of what perpetuates our there about leopards is myth rather than fact and it’s human nature to embellish encounters with them, sometimes to their detriment. Unfortunately throughout Africa leopards are being constantly persecuted due to the fact that farmers see them as problem animals who kill their livestock. #blackpanther #blackleopard #leopard #savehabitat
