Alex practiced the route repeatedly over two years to memorize every hold and rehearse every move in order to prepare for his eventual "free solo." The stakes couldn’t have been higher or more clear: perfection or death. Most people take 3 to 5 days to climb the 3000-foot-long Freerider route.
