ケヴィン・スミスさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ケヴィン・スミスInstagram)「16 years ago yesterday, my Dad up and died. This is one of the last photos that was ever taken of Don Smith (with me and Mom): snapped by @panasonicusa nice guy #edjanda at @wizardworld 2003 in Philadelphia. 12 hours after we took this pic, Dad would be gone. My Mom had called me from Florida to say she and Dad were coming to see me do a Q&A at the Con. I tried to talk them out of coming because it was going to be a busy weekend for me. But my sister (who lived overseas) was visiting Philly at the same time and my Mom decided to come up from Florida with Dad and my brother Donald so she could have all her family in one place for a change. Thank God Mom would not be denied, because what a great day we had. As seen in pic 2, my Old Man was sitting in the front row for my show, laughing it up. Afterwards, we all went out to eat at the Philadelphia Morton’s, where we had a back room to ourselves. Following dinner, I put my Mom and Dad into a cab and said goodnight. I had no idea I was actually saying goodbye to Dad: he died six hours later. It was easily the worst moment of my existence. My Dad was a big figure in my life and I adored the guy. He instilled in me a love of movies that would eventually lead to a 25-year-and-counting career in film. Losing him when he was only 67 (to a massive heart attack) hurt like Hell. However, before I put Dad in the cab that night? We'd all had an amazing dinner together: Mom, Dad, my sister Virginia, her husband Eric, my brother Donald, my wife Jen and me. My Dad's last meal was hardy as fuck (though hardly Vegan): filet mignon, cheesecake and a couple Manhattan's. He spent hours at the table listening to his adult kids telling stories and laughing. He was happy as fuck: he'd won at life. And then he died. Nobody wants to leave this best of all possible worlds - but if you gotta go? At least go with a gut full of good food and a heart full of the love for a family you built with your best friend. For 33 years, he was my most excellent role model. And 16 years after his death, he’s still teaching me stuff. Miss you, Pop. Save me a seat... #KevinSmith #dad #philadelphia #wizardworld」6月3日 0時26分 - thatkevinsmith
