Nearly a million #Rohingya, a majority-Muslim ethnic group from majority-Buddhist Myanmar’s westernmost state of Rakhine, are stuck in #refugee camps in southeastern Bangladesh, having fled violence and persecution in large numbers in late 2017. #Bangladesh, which generously let them in, doesn’t want them to stay. The official narrative of the international community holds that the Rohingya must be allowed to go home to #Myanmar voluntarily, in safety and with dignity. Yet in reality that is not going to happen for a very long time—if ever—writes Feliz Solomon. In this photograph, a man bathes in a man-made pond near the camp where he lives.
