Each week of Open Art Space—the Museum’s free drop-in program for LGBTQ teens and their allies—teaching artists and program facilitators Tali Petschek and Kerry Downey begin with a simple ask: “How are you doing today?” While the program centers on art making, that often takes a back seat to hanging out and checking in, in a space where the teens are free to be themselves.
