Glitter covered doughnuts, designed as a tribute to late singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, are made at Donas donut shop in Downey, Calif. Local shops are a quintessential part of life in Southern California, a #food culture fostered largely by Cambodian immigrants. Many Cambodians who fled the Khmer Rouge and arrived to America in the 1970s and 80s built up an industry around the iconic American treat in the state. Through a personal project, Colorado-based photographer Theo Stroomer has explored the history of the #🍩 and its relation to Los Angeles, where doughnut shops are aplenty. (L.A.
